Hi Friends. Welcome new subscribers!

This is one of my favorite times of the year. We are on the cusp of the reemergence of nature around us - spring is just around the corner. This past November I attended the Fitness Symposium offered by American Council on Exercise (ACE) for continuing education credits for my certification. I was surprised and delighted to hear many of the presenters refer to ‘movement’ as going back to the walking gait. Many of the sessions were on assessments and movement patterning with a focus on exercises for stabilization and on the desired movement of choice for the client.

WOW offers a range of programs and activities with you in mind. New this year is training for the NEW Portland Half Marathon. Beginning in April for those new to this distance; starting in June for veteran walkers. Check the website for more information.

Racewalking hits Main Street with the recent article in Parade's Healthy Style....Jan/Feb 2010 addition. You can get the same benefits as runners with less chance of injury. If this is of interest to you, check out the Early Bird Sessions beginning February 9th.

The WOW Walk Club hosted by REI Clackamas is one year old. Please come join us for our celebration which includes a walk on February 6th, tomorrow.
